Bella is the bomb. This girl really has it together. While watching “New Moon,” I realized it was packed full of important lessons we can share with our daughters. I highly recommend you watch the movie (as I did) with your daughter and then encourage her to follow in Bella’s footsteps. Not only will this help her achieve success as a teen, but it paves the way to a lifetime of effectiveness. To get the dialogue started, I suggest you cover the points below.
7 Habits of Highly Successful Teenage Girls
- When confronted with heartache, sit in a chair for months and stare blankly outside the window.
- When a vampire dumps you, date a werewolf. This makes everything better.
- Disappear for days-on-end. This strengthens the relationship you have with your parents and promotes trust.
- When spending time with your girlfriends, ditch them to jump on a scary-looking stranger’s bike.
- Hike in the woods alone. Not only will this allow you to become a damsel in distress to be rescued by werewolfs, it inspires you to make wise and thoughtful decisions, like jumping off a cliff into dangerous water.
- Reckless activities cause hallucinations of vampires. This is a good thing. If you are not hallucinating, you are not reckless enough.
- When you are 18, you are officially very old. It is time to be depressed about your age.
I had the above discussion with my daughter this afternoon. I really feel we connected.

You are such a wise mother. When I have a teenage daughter, I can only hope I will be the kind of mother you are.
So you liked the movie THAT much, eh?
Interesting how being parent opens our eyes to things like this doesn’t it?
Bell freaking bugs! She is such a spaz and quite annoying. I wish that Jamaican vampire would have eaten her.
I am definitely logging this one away so that I can one day have this exact chat with my daughter. he he. LOVED THIS POST! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Lying to your parents and leaving the country (#3) is wonderful advice. Very funny 7 habits!
Way too funny, Lori, especially since my wife and I watched “New Moon” last night. Good stuff.
I’m going to print this and put it on the fridge. My girls are only 3 & 4 you can never start too young teaching good life lessons!
Thanks for the comment, Jenny! I love that you are putting it on your fridge. I agree. You can never start teaching such awesome principles too early. May Bella continue to provide us with more spectacular teaching opportunities.
Thanks for all the comments, everyone. Yeah, Bella needs some serious counseling, as well as some new friends. I wish she would come over to my house so we can have a heart-to-heart.
